Building The Footing Form Boards
To build the footing
form boards,
stretch a line between between the
corner form
stakes and drive in intermediate form stakes 600 to 900 mm (2 to 3
feet) along the outside of the stretched line between corner stakes as
shown in figure 10.
A chalk line may be used to mark the footing top grade on the
intermediate stakes if the form boards are not long enough to reach the
corners. Nail the form boards to the inside of the outside footing form
stakes
so the top of the form board is flush to the top grade of the footing.
The top grade is marked on the stakes. Cut the stakes flush to the top
of the form
boards. The width of the form board will be the height of the footing.
The form board width may have to be cut down or another board added to
adjust the footing form to the height of the footing. Cut a form
spreader with a
length that is equal to the footing extension beyond the building wall
plus the
thickness of one form board. Use the spreader to set the inside footing
form stakes. Use a spirit level to attach and level the inside form
boards. The form boards should be oiled before attaching to the stakes
to make
form stripping easier after the concrete has set.
