Attaching Footing Form Sections At Their Corners
Instead of building the
footing forms at the placement site, they can built in
sections elsewhere. The sections can be brought to the site and
attached together
at their corners. Use a chalkline to mark the outside location of the
building foundation wall on the built sections. The chalkline distance
from the
outside
form board wall will be the distance the footing extends beyond the
building wall plus the thickness of a form board. Place the form at the
building
site,
by lining up the chalk mark with the batter board string lines with the
aid of a
plumb bob or spirit level. Drive footing form stakes into the ground on
each side of the form. Locate and mark the
footing form top grade on the stakes, then nail the forms to the stakes
and to each other. See figure 13.
