Measuring Elevation Differences
With A Transit
The following measuring
equipment
will
be needed: transit, and tripod, metric measuring rod,
logbook and pencil. The instruments are setup to measure the difference
in elevation between two points as shown in figure 5. The rod measures
the vertical distance
between the transit levels line of site and the selected point. Make
sure the rod is held plumb or an error will occur.
