Framing Floor Openings
Frame any floor openings
as figure
23. According to the building code,
header joists around floor openings
shall be doubled when they exceed 1.2 metres (4 feet) in length.
Trimmer joists
around floor openings shall be doubled when the length of the header
joist exceeds 800 mm (31.5 inches).Frame in the opening according to the numbers on figure 23.
1. Two inside trimmer joists.
2 .Two outside headers.
3. Tail joists on centre.
4. Two inside headers.
5. Two outside trimmers.
6. Adjacent floor joists.
