| Tile is placed on
the floor in sequence, after a tile adhesive is
put on one quarter of the room and allowed
to dry until it becomes tacky. The adhesive does not cover the chalk
lines. The first tile is laid on one inside centre
corner for an even number of tiles per row, and over the centre lines'
intersection point for an odd number of tiles per row. The second tile
is laid adjacent to the first tile on one centre line, and the third
tile is laid adjacent to the first tile on the other side on the second
centre line, and so on. The border tiles are cut and a pattern is
used to help cut and place the tile around pipes. When the
first quarter of the
room is finished, the remaining three quarters are tiled, one
quarter at a
time. When vinyl tile is used, each tiled quarter is rolled with a
smooth or linoleum roller. A cove base is put along the walls after
tile placement. If a vinyl cove base is used, the base is cut to
lengths, an adhesive is applied to the back of the base, and the base
is pressed against the wall. |
