Modular Home
Building Platform Foundation 2
Modular
homes can
be placed on treated wood foundations that are above or below ground.
The diagram below shows a foundation that can be
used as a permanent modular home building platform. When
construction is completed the home can be moved to another location.
The building
platform foundation
and the modular home have separate floor
joists. Before moving a modular home, the header floor
joist lift points for the crane's two
cable
slings, are located and drilled. The
lift points are usually located one half inch from the bottom of the
joist and one third to one quarter from each end. They will
be ten feet from each end if the home is longer than forty-six
feet. For
extra lifting security, the header floor joists can be doubled during
construction or temporary scabs can be attached to
the joists. Spreader bars can be used to keep the
cable slings from damaging the building's walls. |
