Double nailed gypsum board reduces nail pop ups by preventing
the
relative movement between the nail head and board. The board is nailed
to the framing members at 300 mm on centre and around its perimeter.
The end perimeter board nails are spaced 175 mm on centre, and the top
and bottom perimeters are fastened with one nail to each framing
member. On the inner part of the board, nail a second set of nails, 50
mm from the first set. While nailing the second set of nails, watch for
movement between the board and first set of nails. If the board moves,
hammer the loose nail to tighten the grip between the gypsum board and
the framing member.
